York Knights will continue in their bid to cut the gap to the Betfred Championship Play-Offs when they make the trip to third-placed Bradford Bulls at Odsal Stadium on Sunday (3pm).
York have won seven of their last eight Betfred Championship matches to leave themselves ninth in the table, trailing Widnes Vikings, who occupy the final Play-Off place by just two points.
The Knights recorded four straight league wins in July, beating Halifax Panthers (28-18), Keighley Cougars (10-50), Sheffield Eagles (23-18) and London Broncos (10-24).
A narrow defeat to Toulouse Olympique at the LNER Community Stadium by a 18-14 scoreline followed for Andrew Henderson’s side, who got back on the horse with three victories in a row.
Widnes Vikings (30-40) and Newcastle Thunder (6-20) were toppled on the road before beating Swinton Lions 26-22 last weekend.
Bradford hold the commanding position of third with three rounds remaining, but are only three points clear of seventh-placed Batley Bulldogs.
The Bulls have taken 29 points from 24 matches and entertain York, having won five of their last 10 matches.
Derby rivals Keighley were thrashed 74-12 while wins were also sealed against Whitehaven (18-44), Batley Bulldogs (6-42), Newcastle (36-8) and Swinton (26-42).
Lee Greenwood’s side fell short in defeats to Toulouse Olympique (52-12), Widnes (31-14), Barrow Raiders (10-14) and Featherstone Rovers (8-16) while also drawing with Halifax (22-22), meaning their position inside the top six is still to be settled.
The Knights will be wary of Bradford’s desperation to finish their regular season home campaign on a high, with trips to London and Sheffield to end their season following this weekend’s fixture.
With that said, York will arrive at Odsal with fond recent memories of past outings at the famed and historic ground.
Chris Clarkson, Will Jubb, Brendan O’Hagan and Danny Kirmond crossed the whitewash on the last trip to Odsal, in a 20-6 victory while few will forget the thrilling 30-28 win at the same venue in July 2018, a key triumph in the club’s Betfred League One title capture.
York Knights will be seeking to cut the gap between themselves and the Betfred Championship Play-Offs when they visit Bradford Bulls at Odsal on Sunday (3pm).
