York RLFC Foundation in partnership with York St John University & City of York Council are delighted to announce the return of 'Fish and Chip Friday'. We are inviting you to York St John University, Haxby Rd from 1pm until 3pm for a social gathering. The purpose behind the event is to give people the chance to come together for some food, a drink, a warm space and a chat.

This invite goes out to not only York RFLC fans but to the wide community as we want to use this opportunity to integrate and connect individuals that may be feeling isolated or lonely in a friendly atmosphere which we intend to create all for a £5 donation.

Adam Prentis, York RLFC Foundation Manager said 'To do this at an exceptional venue in York St John's University Sports Park adds to the draw with the connection to the York RFLC being our designated training ground for the men, women and junior pathways. We are really keen to be able to offer this opportunity again and want to stage a community event which would appeal to people who may be feeling lonely or isolated, they may be a carer, suffering from dementia or just want another opportunity to get out and meet people.'

The venue of York St John University Sports Park on Haxby Road has excellent accessibility and associated facilities and is well located on a main road into York with ample parking, access by footpaths and on a main bus route (Number 1 Blue Line).

To book please follow this link: https://forms.gle/xTr5JXpy4eL4BMLp6

Please note order made within 24 hours of the event may not be accepted. Please pay on the day with all proceeds raised going to the York RLFC Foundation.

Fish & Chip Friday coming back is such a great idea — it’s the kind of tradition that brings people together and gives everyone something to look forward to at the end of the week. I always notice how much atmosphere matters in these moments, not just the food. The staff, the service, and even the little organizational details make the experience smooth and enjoyable. That’s why I find tools like server books so valuable — they keep everything organized and professional, helping waitstaff deliver great service. I often check out Kyiv Workshop for thoughtful designs that support these kinds of dining traditions.

Fish and chips on a Friday is such a classic, but I recently decided to switch things up and try a beef and chorizo recipe instead. The rich, smoky flavors from the chorizo mixed with the tender beef made it an absolute hit. The guide I followed nailed that perfect sear on the chorizo, keeping all those bold, savory juices locked in. It’s definitely a hearty, satisfying option for when you want something a bit more filling while still keeping that comforting, casual vibe.
