York City Knights Ladies head to Headingley on Sunday afternoon for a date with destiny. The challenge for Lindsay Anfield’s team? Lifting the Betfred Women’s Super League League Leaders’ Shield for the first time.
Standing in the way will be second-placed Leeds Rhinos and the Knights know that a victory will seal the silverware. Familiar foes Leeds Rhinos have proven worthy adversaries over the last year, defeating Anfield’s team last season in a Women’s Super League Play-Off Semi-Final classic before triumphing once again in the Women’s Challenge Cup Semi-Finals earlier this season. Ultimately, the winner of Sunday’s match
The Knights hit back with a 24-10 victory at the LNER Community Stadium in June as part of a run that saw York top the table after six consecutive wins at the start of this 2022 campaign.
Defeat last month at St Helens is the only defeat Anfield’s team have suffered in the league this year and Saints, currently sitting third, are also in with a chance of lifting the silverware. They would need to win their match against Wigan Warriors as well as the Rhinos to beat York with a sizeable swing in points difference, as well.
Tickets for Sunday’s match are priced at £5 per person, apart from under-16s who are free and don’t require a ticket to attend. Supporters can purchase tickets online from tickets.therhinos.co.uk.
