York RLFC Foundation is excited to announce the latest wave of upcoming Coach Education workshops as part of York RLFC's Club Support and Development Plan.
Throughout the year, we organise a variety of coaching education workshops to support player and club development. These will include the following courses: the RFL Level One Coaching Course, the RFL Level Two Coaching Course, the RFL Referee Course, the Primary Rugby League Community Coaches Workshop, and the Primary Rugby League Teachers Course.
The Foundation offer several opportunities per year for new and existing coaches and volunteers to get involved with the sport. Our 2025 Coach Programme includes more opportunities than ever as we look to support the continued development within our region. This programme of events will be delivered in a variety of formats, whether linked to sessions with the head coach, through the Excel programme or by organising RFL Coach Education workshops.
Alongside this the Foundation run regular sessions for Primary and Secondary school teachers to support their knowledge and understanding around rugby league.
The Foundation also work with clubs to help their player recruitment through the work in schools and support local community clubs with various initiatives throughout a year.

2025 Coach Education Autumn Workshops
RFL Level One Coaching Course
The RFL Level One Coaching Course is aimed at individuals over 16 who want to start working with primary rugby league teams.
Who: Candidates must be aged 16+
Where: York St John University Sports Park, YO31 8TA
When: Sun 16th November and Sunday 30th November 2025
Time: 08:30-17:00
Cost: £160 (Please see T&C's set by the RFL for transfer and cancellation policy)

RFL Level Two Coaching Course
The Level 2 Certificate for Coaching Rugby League is the standard qualification for coaches operating within the 13-a-side community game from under 12s through to youth and Open Age levels.
-What you will learn:
-Coaching principles and rugby league ethics
-How to plan, deliver and review individual Rugby League coaching sessions
Passing the course
-Attend all of the course hours
- Pass all sections of the multiple-choice theory assessment paper
-Successfully complete the practical coaching sessions on the course, which will involve the planning, delivery and review of your coaching sessions.
-Sign the coaches' Code of Conduct
Who: Candidates must be aged 16+. Due to the level of autonomy and responsibility attached to a qualified coach operating at this level, only candidates over the age of 18 years can apply for a Rugby Football League licence to practice independently. Holders of this qualification who are under 18 years of age must be supervised by another licensed coach, qualified to a minimum of Level 2 or above, or a qualified teacher.
