
Coach Education & Club Support

York RLFC Foundation is excited to announce the first wave of upcoming Coach Education workshops as part of York RLFC's Club Support and Development Plan.
We plan to organise a variety of coaching education workshops throughout the year. These will include the following courses: the RFL Level One Coaching Course, the RFL Level Two Coaching Course, the RFL Referee Course, the Primary Rugby League Community Coaches Workshop, and the Primary Rugby League Teachers Course.
The Foundation offer several opportunities per year for new and existing coaches and volunteers to get involved with the sport. Our 2025 Coach Programme includes more opportunities than ever as we look to support the continued development within our region. This programme of events will be delivered in a variety of formats, whether linked to sessions with the head coach, through the Excel programme or by organising RFL Coach Education workshops.
Alongside this the Foundation run regular sessions for Primary and Secondary school teachers to support their knowledge and understanding around rugby league.
The Foundation also work with clubs to help their player recruitment through the work in schools and support local community clubs with various initiatives throughout a year.

2025 Coach Education Workshops
RFL BUCS Referee Course
The RFL Referee Course provides an introduction into the role and responsibilities of a rugby league referee.
Who: Anyone interested in rugby league refereeing

Primary Rugby League Community Coaches Workshop
The Primary Rugby League Community Coaches Workshop provides all primary rugby league community coaches with an understanding of the ethos, rationale and benefits of primary rugby league.
Who: Coaches currently operating in primary rugby league
Where: LNER Community Stadium, YO32 9AF
When: Monday 10th February, 6.15 pm - 7.30 pm.

Secondary Rugby League Teachers Course
The York RLFC Foundation is providing a Rugby League course aimed at equipping PE teachers with ideas that can be effectively delivered in a school setting.
Who: Secondary school teachers
Where: York St John University Sports Park, YO31 7EX
When: Wednesday 12th February, 3:45 pm -5:00 pm.

Primary Rugby League Teachers Course
The Primary Rugby League Teachers Coaches course is designed for primary school teachers who want to integrate rugby league into their PE curriculum.

RFL Level One Coaching Course
The RFL Level One Coaching Course is aimed at individuals over 16 who want to start working with primary rugby league teams.
Who: Candidates must be aged 16+

Community Coach Workshop Series
We are proud to announce a series of four workshops led by the York RLFC Head of Rugby Development. All workshops are free to attend, but we ask all coaches to register using the link provided below.
