The big name signing of 2025, McShane brought experience and a steadying influence as York clinched the Betfred League Leaders’ Shield and went on a 20 game winning run.

An on-field “General”, his form saw him named as the 2025 Betfred Championship player of the year.

After making more than 200 appearances over 10 years for Castleford Tigers in Super League, the hooker signed a two-year deal with York.

During his time with the Tigers, he earned two England caps and was named Man of Steel in 2020.

McShane was also an integral part of the Tigers’ squad that won the Super League League Leaders Shield in 2017 and reached that year’s Super League Grand Final.
