Anfield names Ladies squad

The Knights Ladies will be looking to reach a second consecutive Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final in Sunday’s semi-final against Leeds Rhinos and Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield has named her preliminary squad ahead of the match.

Prop forward Alisha Clayton is included for the first time in 2022 after recovering from injury. She, alongside fellow Knight Georgia Taylor, represented GB Teachers recently and Clayton will be keen to make her first appearance of the season.

After four successive wins to reach the semi-finals – four wins that saw Anfield’s team score almost three hundred points and concede just six points – the Knights are full of confidence but will face their sternest test of the season against the Rhinos.

Leeds defeated the Knights in last year’s Betfred Women’s Super League Play-Off Semi-Final in a memorable encounter and also inflicted defeats earlier in the Play-Off series and early in the campaign.

The Knights, though, have had a strong pre-season and with the amount of strike within the squad, will be confident of a good performance.

Each of the semi-finals – Featherstone Rovers face reigning cup winners St Helens in the other – will be shown LIVE on BBC Sport with the Knights kicking off at 2:30pm on the red button and iPlayer.
