Anfield names squad for trip to Wigan

York City Knights Ladies Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield has named her preliminary squad for Sunday’s trip to face Wigan Warriors at Robin Park Arena as the team look to strengthen their hold on top spot of this year’s Betfred Women’s Super League table.

Back-to-back wins over St Helens and Leeds Rhinos at the LNER Community Stadium over the last month have put the Knights in a great position after three rounds. Yesterday’s Rhinos victory at Saints mean that a York win over Wigan will open up a four-point gap at the top of the table.

Full-back Tara Jane Stanley and forwards Hollie Dodd, Grace Field and Olivia Wood all go into Sunday’s squad off the back of two victories with England over the international weekend, the latter making her debut against Wales.

Fellow international Kelsey Gentles is ruled out after picking up a knee injury during the victory over Leeds Rhinos while Rhiannion Marshall commences her four-match ban after her red card in the same match.
