York Knights have retained winger, Jon Bennison for 2027, thanks to support from Squad Builder!

He’s agreed a one year extension to his contract, taking him into a second year at the club.

After missing the start of the season because of injury, the 23 year-old scored 10 tries in 14 appearances kicking 24 goals.

He scored a hat-trick in York’s 22-14 defeat at Leigh in August as well as two tries in the Knights’ Magic Weekend victory against Huddersfield Giants.

A product of St.Helens Academy, Bennison was already an established Super League player when he moved to the LNER Community Stadium for 2026 after making 71 appearances for Saints.

On remaining with the Knights, Bennison said: “I've loved my time at York so far, and with the club's ambition, it was a no brainer."

Head coach, Mark Applegarth added: “I’m really delighted Jon’s been extended for another year.

“He’s still really young with relatively a lot of experience and the best compliment I can give Jon is he’s just really solid, a Mr Consistent.

“He’s very brave for his size and never takes a backward step and he’s got a very high level of understanding and a good IQ.”
