York RLFC Foundation and the The RFL are excited to join other Charitable Foundations in spotlighting the incredible work that’s ongoing within our communities and celebrate all that has been achieved so far!
Specifically, this year's Week of Social Impact is focused on “Building a Better Future” launched as of today, Monday, 20th October.
Here at York RLFC Foundation, we are pleased to celebrate the RFL’s social impact mission by collaborating with the sport’s charitable foundation network, striving to make a tangible difference to the lives of people in our community and beyond.
Club Foundations across the country will be showcasing the work we do as a collective!
Rugby League is far more than just a sport. It has an outstanding community that surrounds it and a key part of our commitment to our Rugby League family is our social impact mission. We strive to help tackle inequalities, achieve social justice and social cohesion.
The aim is to put a spotlight on and highlight the extent and reach of our work with the intention of recruiting participants to each programme. We are also going to hear testimonies from individuals who have benefited from our work.
Our most recent social impact initiatives include: Walking Rugby, HNYUnited, Touch Rugby League, Fish and Chip Friday, RugBees, LDRL, Wheelchair Rugby League, Menfulness and ‘On the Same Team’.
The Week of Social Impact is more than just a series of events. It’s a call to action. It’s a reminder that each of us has a role to play in fostering a community that cares, supports, and uplifts one another. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the sport, this week is an opportunity to understand the profound and undeniable impact Rugby League has on people’s lives.
Through the work of the York RLFC Foundation and the use of sport as a social impact vehicle, we are dedicated to achieving and working towards a better future by:
1. Removing the barriers and Tackling the Inequalities our communities face. Focusing on Health & Wellbeing and Education & Employability to increase Social Mobility.
2. Welcoming more players to the Rugby League family. Pushing inclusivity and diversity – ensuring Social Justice.
3. Strengthening our community game through sustainable facilities, supporting our volunteers and ultimately achieving Social Cohesion.
Let’s build a better future together!
Adam Prentis, York RLFC Foundation Delivery Manager, said:
"We are proud to be promoting our wide variety of local events, sharing our own Rugby League stories, and simply spreading the word about the incredible work being done in our community.
"Whether you are a child, a student, a potential volunteer, a school teacher, a parent or an adult looking to get involved, this could help signpost you in the right direction."
