York Knights return to action in the Betfred Championship on Sunday against Doncaster RLFC at the Eco Power Stadium (3pm)!

After a week’s break, coach, Mark Applegarth leads his side into the penultimate round of the season sitting two points clear at the top of the table and on a winning run of 15 league matches.

Doncaster are in eighth place with 22 points, and still in with a chance of reaching the end of season play offs.

When the teams last met in April at the LNER Community Stadium, the Knights were 66-0 winners. There were 12 tries that day, including a brace for both Ata Hingano and Liam Harris, and a hat-trick for Scott Galeano.

Since then, Richard Horne’s side have steadied themselves and can still get into the top six. They managed a four match winning run, beating London Broncos, Widnes Vikings, Batley Bulldogs and Hunslet Hawks, while suffering narrow defeats against Bradford Bulls and Oldham.

There was only a point between Doncaster and Oldham when they met last weekend at Boundary Park, with the match ending 13-12. Both of Doncaster’s tries were scored by winger, Edene Gebbie, who is battling with York’s Ben Jones-Bishop to finish as the league’s top try scorer for 2025.

Among the Doncaster squad are some familiar faces, with former York players, Brad Hey, Ben Johnston, Pauli Pauli and fan’s favourite, Connor Robinson.

The last time Doncaster hosted York, the home side ran out 36-20 winners on the opening day of the 2024 season. This time around, Mark Applegarth’s side will be looking to pick up the points to take them another step towards picking up the league leaders’ trophy.
