After missing around six weeks of action, half-back Jamie Ellis has returned for the Knights in our victories at Barrow Raiders and Bradford Bulls.
“It’s great to be back,” Ellis admitted. “I’ve missed playing for the last few weeks but the boys have been playing well so it was great to see us racking up the wins.”
Ellis, like several of the Knights and Head Coach James Ford have in recent weeks, heralded the defensive effort on show from the team.
“It’s massive. It shows how good we are as a group that, even when we conceded that try end the end, (James) Glover was filthy with himself for missing the tackle. It shows the standards we have for each other here – we set the bar really high for ourselves.”
With confidence only building in the ranks, Ellis believes better is yet to come from the Knights.
“We’ve been pretty good all season and we’re just building week on week. We were a bit scratchy against Bradford but a win is a win at this point of the season.”
Another big test awaits on Sunday afternoon with third-placed Halifax Panthers travelling to the LNER Community Stadium.
“It will be another tough game as Halifax are a good team who are in form. We will have to be at our best against them.”
Tickets are available now for Sunday’s Knights double-header with our ladies taking on St Helens before the men face Halifax.
