Ford names 21-Man Squad for visit of Batley

York City Knights Head Coach James Ford has announced his 21-Man Squad ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Championship match against Batley Bulldogs, with loanees Jamie Ellis, Tyla Hepi (both sponsored by Trade Cars 4 U) and Jake Sweeting (sponsored by Naked Bean Roasters) all included.

The trio joined on loan from Leigh Centurions, Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers respectively yesterday and trained with their new teammates for the first time last night with each in line to make their Knights debuts this weekend.

Ellis’ arrival sees the former Championship promotion winner take the place of fellow half-back Brendan O’Hagan in the preliminary squad after the Australian picked up an injury against Halifax Panthers while Sweeting arrives at a time that Kriss Brining has also been ruled out with a recurrence of the hamstring injury that saw the hooker have a spell on the sidelines earlier this year.

Hepi, a 28-year-old boasting over a century of appearances with Toulouse Olympique before moving to Castleford ahead of the 2020 campaign, comes in to bring added aggression and tenacity to a Knights pack that will be looking to lead the team to a bounceback victory against Batley this weekend.

AJ Towse, sponsored by Sunday’s Man of the Match Partner Burflex Scaffolding, also comes into the preliminary squad after his loan spell with Coventry Bears while Ronan Dixon, sponsored by The White Family, is included as well.
