Glover signs two-year deal!

York City Knights are pleased to confirm that centre James Glover has signed a new two-year deal with the Club thanks to the support of Squad Builder!

Glover, 28, joined the Knights ahead of the current campaign from Sheffield Eagles and has played in every single competitive match of the year, scoring thirteen tries in his twenty-nine appearances.

In the latter part of the season, he has also shown his quality from the kicking tee with seventeen goals added to his points tally.

A dangerous runner with ball in hand, Glover’s ability and skill has produced countless tries and opportunities for his teammates and will no doubt be keen to continue his form over the next two campaigns after signing his new deal.

On retaining Glover, Head Coach James Ford said: “James has had a very good first season for us and everybody at the Club sees him as a key re-signing.

“He’s had a positive impact on our attack and defence. His desire to compete physically against his opposite edge is impressive and we’ve always felt he has a good reactive attacking game. Some of his structural attack has been strong, also, and we’ve really enjoyed working with James this year.

“I’m sure we can help him have an even better season next year.”

After signing his new deal, Glover himself said: “I’m buzzing to get it sorted again for next year with the Knights. I’ve absolutely loved my time here so far and I’m really looking forward to the next couple of years.

“Personally, I think I’ve had quite a good year. I’m happy and enjoying myself and I think you can see that in my performances. You can only be as good as the people around you, though, and I think that when we’ve clicked, we’ve been a really good team.

“I think it’s pretty obvious where the Club wants to go and I’m enjoying being part of that journey. To be in and around the Play-Offs consistently would be a good start but, from a personal point of view, aiming at being better week on week to improve the areas in my game that I need to is a big focus.”
