York Knights captain, Liam Harris will remain with the club for 2026 after signing a new deal thanks to support of Squad Builder!
The 28 year old, who took over the captaincy from Chris Clarkson in 2024 has spent the last three years at the Knights, after a short spell at Halifax Panthers.
Following an initial spell on loan from Hull KR in 2017, and then again from Hull FC in 2019, Harris returned to York in 2022 on a permanent deal and he’s become a vital part of the Knights line up ever since with a strong kicking game and eye for a gap.
He’s made more than 100 appearances for the club and picked up the Ray French Award for Player of the Match in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup final at Wembley in June.
A former Graham Steadman Player of the Year award winner in 2023, Harris has had another stellar year in 2025.
After resigning Harris, head coach, Mark Applegarth said: "Delighted Liam has re-signed for next year.
"He is my captain and it’s been great to watch his progress on and off the field. For me, he’s been one of the players of the year in the championship and we are a better team when he’s playing.
"I still think theres plenty of development left in him and he has the ability to play at the top level. I'm looking forward to working with him again next year and he will be a massive part of what we build moving forward."
