Jones-Bishop extends his time at York!

The Betfred Championship top try scorer in 2025, Ben Jones-Bishop will play for York again in 2026, thanks to the support from Squad Builder!
The winger or full back returned to the LNER Community Stadium in March, and went on to score 29 tries in York colours in 23 appearances, including three hat-tricks and four in one game in the win over Hunslet in April.
Alongside his team mates, he lifted the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup at Wembley, the Betfred Championship League Leaders’ Shield and played in the Grand Final defeat by Toulouse.
The Jamaican International rejoined for a second spell after four seasons at Sheffield Eagles, after initially being at York in 2021, when he scored in that year’s AB Sundecks 1895 Cup final defeat by Featherstone Rovers.
With experience in Super League, Jones-Bishop featured in Challenge Cup Finals and Grand Finals for Leeds Rhinos. He was also part of the Rhinos’ World Club Challenge winning side in 2012, scoring in the 20-12 win over Manly Sea Eagles.
His career has also seen him play for Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity in Super League.
Head coach, Mark Applegarth is thrilled to have him for another season.
"I know he's maturing now but he's got some quality rugby left in him, as he's shown this year becoming the top try scorer in the Championship.
"He knows how to finish a try but it's not just that though. It's all the little things. The small talk to his team mates, the leadership that he brings.
"He's just the quiet professional in terms of how he goes about his business on the field and he's key to helping develop that next generation.
"I still think he's playing to the best of his ability. He's like a fine wine is Bish! I'm really delighted."
Ben Jones-Bishop spoke about the re-signing: "Since joining the club, the club's standards and willingness to be successful has allowed me to perform at a level I'm happy with.
"I'm excited to continue that and play a part in the clubs progression into super league!"
