York Valkyrie are delighted to announce that outside back Emma Kershaw has been nominated for the 2023 Betfred Women’s Super League Young Player of the Year award.
Kershaw - who is proudly sponsored by The Bootham Tavern - has enjoyed a tremendous season at York, scoring 11 tries and contributing two assists in 2023.
Capable of playing either at centre or on the wing, Kershaw has been an ever-present this year, making 15 appearances to date, as the Valkyrie captured an historic second consecutive League Leaders’ Shield, becoming the first team in BWSL history to win the Shield in back-to-back seasons.
Kershaw has been named on the three-player shortlist for the BWSL Young Player of the Year award alongside Huddersfield Giants winger Amelia Brown and Leeds Rhinos half-back Caitlin Casey.
The BWSL Young Player of the Year award winner, which was last year won by ex-York star Hollie-Mae Dodd, will be announced at the 2023 Rugby League Awards Night on Tuesday 10th October at The Point at Emirates Old Trafford.
York Valkyrie continue their bid for a maiden BWSL Grand Final title when they host Wigan Warriors in the Play-Off Semi-Finals on Saturday (3.30pm) at the LNER Community Stadium.
