York City Knights are pleased to announce their squad numbers for the 2021 Betfred Championship season.
Head Coach James Ford has put together a strong squad with a blend of youthful potential and seasoned Super League experience as he plots to earn promotion from an exciting Championship division featuring the likes of London Broncos, Toulouse Olympique, Bradford Bulls & Newcastle Thunder.
No less than thirteen players have played in Super League and the NRL, with an impressive 2000 combined elite level appearances between them in total.
Experienced new signing Ryan Atkins has taken number 4, Kieran Dixon 5, Brendan O’Hagan 6, Morgan Smith 7, Adam Cuthbertson 13 and Danny Kirmond 17. The squad is complemented by an exciting crop of youngsters in numbers 23 to 27, and Danny Washbrook will bring the curtain down on a glittering career by taking up his first ever squad number, 28.
Tyme Dow-Nikau will wear number 30, thirty years after his father Tawera Nikau represented York RL with such distinction.
Once again - perhaps more pertinently than ever - the number 18 shirt is retired in memory of all the Knights fans sadly no longer with us.
Details of the 2021 fixture list and any possible pre-season friendlies will be confirmed and shared in the new year, ahead of the season start in March.
