On Sunday 4th July, sports fans in York will be treated to a feast of rugby league when the LNER Community Stadium hosts a double header with both our Mens and Ladies teams taking to the field!

Kicking off at 3pm, our Men will face Newcastle Thunder in the Betfred Championship with James Ford’s team looking to hit form in the league ahead of York City Knights’ trip to Wembley for the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final on 17th July.
Afterwards, fans will be able to take in the Knights Ladies’ next Betfred Women’s Super League match against Bradford Bulls which will kick off at 5:15pm. Lindsay Anfield’s team will be looking to push into the top four of the competition before the league splits and will no doubt have her squad motivated to perform in front of the Knights fans in their second match in our new home – and their first with fans.
Anfield, York City Knights Ladies’ Director of Rugby, said: “To have the opportunity to play in our home stadium and in front of the fans is fantastic. We are all really looking forward to finally getting on the field in York and showing the fans what we can do!”
Club Chairman Jon Flatman explained the reasons and benefits of both teams participating in the double-header. “It creates a longer and more worthwhile event for the fans while also giving those who have never seen the Women’s game in person a great chance to see it live at no extra cost.
“We are looking to integrate the Ladies team into everything the club does and, naturally, double-headers are a great way to do that. We have a showpiece Community Stadium here and it’s great to see more and more of the community using it.”
The Knights would like to thank Bradford Bulls for agreeing to the double-header.
