KNIGHTS FIXTURE LIST CONFIRMED!

York City Knights will kick-off our 2022 Betfred Championship campaign – and Premier Sports’ new Monday night coverage slot – with a plum tie against much-fancied Featherstone Rovers at the LNER Community Stadium on Monday 31st January!

After preparing for the campaign with friendlies against Midlands Hurricanes and Castleford Tigers, our match will see the Knights looking to break down Featherstone’s ‘Blue Wall,’ with Head Coach James Ford’s new-look team keen to set a marker down in front of what will be a bumper crowd to kick off the new broadcast slot.

Now led by four-time Super League Grand Final winning Head Coach Brian McDermott, the Knights have had several memorable matches against Rovers over the years, including last year’s AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, a match James Ford’s men will be keen to get revenge for on the opening weekend.

The Monday night slot is a new one for Betfred Championship clubs and, at the Knights, we are thrilled at the prospect of kickstarting the Premier Sports coverage of the competition with a spectacle on the field!

Other standout matches that Knights fans will be looking out for include a home match against rivals Bradford Bulls on Sunday 14th August, as well as a first trip to London Broncos’ new stadium at Plough Lane (Cherry Red Records Stadium) on Sunday 6th March.

As well as Monday nights, we are delighted to also be hosting fixtures on a Friday and Saturday evening throughout the campaign as we look to showcase our stadium and club under the lights. The LNER Community Stadium will see the Knights play host to now full-time Newcastle Thunder on Saturday April 16th and Sheffield Eagles on Friday 26th August as we look to send our fans into the Bank Holiday weekend in style!

Over the first weekend of June, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, sees an extended Bank Holiday weekend with the Knights facing Sheffield Eagles at 3pm on Thursday 2nd at the Olympic Legacy Park before facing London Broncos at the LNER Community Stadium the following Sunday.

All fixtures until our Round Ten clash against Barrow Raiders on Monday May 2nd, also live on Premier Sports, have been confirmed, giving us two televised matches in the opening weeks of the campaign.

Matches scheduled for Round Eleven and beyond are subject to change for Premier Sports coverage.
