York City Knights are pleased to announce the signing of highly rated hooker Reiss Butterworth from Huddersfield Giants on a one month loan.
The 21 year old rake has featured three times for the Giants Reserves side this season having signed from Bradford Bulls on a three year deal in 2018, but is yet to make his Betfred Super League debut. He made 14 appearances for Batley in the Championship last season.
Richard Thewlis, Huddersfield Giants Managing Director said “Reiss has been looking for first-team opportunities and the situation has arisen for York to provide him with some quality Championship game time.
“Reiss is a big talent, and the opportunity to test himself in a competitive Championship with York will be good for his development and be a step up from reserve grade in a side that all expect at the end of the year to be challenging for promotion. The initial arrangement is only for a month and we’ll all review where we are at after that.”
Butterworth added: “I’m excited to get going at a good level in the Championship, it’s a good opportunity to get some experience under James Ford.”

Butterworth comes into consideration for the Knights squad to take on London Broncos at Bootham Crescent this Sunday, 8th March at 3pm. Tickets for this game will be available online HERE and from the club office.
