Leeds Rhinos v York Valkyrie: Match Preview

  • Aug 6
  • 2 min read

York Valkyrie return to action this weekend in the first round of the Betfred Women’s Super League Super 4’s against Leeds Rhinos at AMT Headingley (2pm)!

After the first stage of the season where each team played each other, Super League has split into two competitions with the top four forming one league and the bottom four another. Each club plays home and away against the rest in their section.

Over the next few weeks, the Valkyrie will take on Wigan Warriors, St.Helens and Leeds, after finishing in fourth place after the first round of games.

Leon Pryce’s side travelled to Headingley in that first round in June, and lost 30-10 to the team that went on to claim second place in the table. Tamzin Renouf and Sade Rihari scored but it wasn’t enough to make an impact against a strong second half from the Rhinos.

The last time York won at Leeds was in the play off semi final in 2024, when they won 12-10 to progress to the final where they beat St.Helens to be crowned Super League Champions for a second consecutive season.

Leeds have won six of their seven league games this season, with the only defeat being to Champions, Wigan Warriors, when they lost 18-10 away from home.

The Rhinos side has rebuilt over the last few years, and now have a blend of players who have come through their academy system lining up against the experience of Keira Bennett, Mel Howard and Lucy Murray. They also have former Valkyrie, Lacey Owen, Liv Whitehead, Evie Cousins and Jess Sharp in their squad.

York are still to pick up a win against the other teams in the top four, but picked up four wins in the first half of the season, conceding just 12 points in those games.

They go into this stage of the year hoping to put that right in what is Pryce’s first season in charge.

Join us at AMT Headingley Stadium as York Valkyrie travel to play Leeds Rhinos!

The game kicks off at 2pm on Saturday 8th August.

Tickets are priced at £10 for Adults, and FREE for 16s and under if accompanied by an adult!

Great post! It's always nice to discover helpful resources explained in such a simple and conversational style. I started using this cps tester after a recommendation from a friend, and I've really enjoyed it. I check my score every few days and compare it with my previous attempts. Seeing gradual improvement over time keeps me interested and encourages me to keep practicing regularly.
