York Knights travel to the Cherry Red Records Stadium to face London Broncos in the Betfred Championship on Saturday (5pm)!
The Knights have won four of their last five league games, and the 26-12 victory at home to Widnes Vikings last week moved them up to sixth in the table.
In contrast, London Broncos have won just two matches since their return to the Championship after being relegated from the Betfred Super League last season.
After beating Featherstone Rovers 14-12 at home, they also took points against Hunslet, with a 26-6 win also on their home ground.
Theyâve also suffered a narrow 16-14 loss to Batley Bulldogs, which was their first home defeat of the season. Those results point to them being a tougher proposition on their own ground compared to the form theyâve shown on the road. Last weekend, they lost 40-12 at leaders Halifax Panthers.
Coach, Mike Eccles has had to rebuild his squad for 2025 following last yearâs relegation, but heâs still managed to keep some players who were part of the Broncosâ time in the top flight.
Among them is a familiar face in Marcus Stock, who made 78 appearances for York Knights over three seasons from 2020 to 2022.
With the Broncos winning promotion in 2023, itâs been a while since the Knights last played them.
The last time they met was at the Cherry Red Records Stadium in July 2023, when the Knights ran out 24-10 winners. Tries from Jason Bass, Oli Field, Conor Fitzsimmons and Will Jubb, along with four Liam Harris goals, on their way to securing a place in the play-offs.
In the London side that day was current Knights forward, Jacob Gannon, on loan from Leigh Leopards.
The clubs had already met twice before that year, with York winning 24-10 at home, and 30-28 in the Betfred Challenge Cup at the LNER Community Stadium to earn a place in the quarter finals.
