York City Knights Ladies returned to winning ways last weekend, kicking off their Betfred Women’s Super League season with a victory at Huddersfield Giants and co-captain Sinead Peach believes it saw the team improve on key areas from their Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Semi-Final defeat to Leeds.
“I thought it was a great performance by the girls after the disappointment of the game against Leeds. I think we bounced back really well and made a good start towards improving the things we didn’t do so well against Leeds,” she expressed.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s match against Challenge Cup winners St Helens, Peach pointed to the Knights’ pack as being key to any success our women will have.
“We’ve changed up how we play a little bit, starting to play to our strengths a bit to really utilise our forwards so it’ll take a massive effort from them on Sunday.
“What we’ve been doing in training is really starting to click in terms of playing off the back of our forwards and that’s only going to grow more and more each week.”
With Saints the favourites to retain their Women’s Super League crown, Peach further highlighted the fact that she is expecting another tough game before hailing the Knights faithful ahead of our second double-header of the year.
“It will be a feisty game. They have a lot of England internationals in their team so it will certainly be a tough one but I think it is one that we can overcome.
“It’s great to play at the LNER in front of that crowd and hopefully we can get some good numbers there on Sunday!”
Tickets are available for Sunday’s double-header with tickets applying for both the women’s game against St Helens and the men’s match against Halifax Panthers.
They are available online from yorkcityknights.com/tickets and will also be available on the day.
