Pemberton stays for Super League!

York Knights have retained hooker, Taylor Pemberton on a full time contract for Super League in 2026 thanks to the support of Squad Builder!

Initially joining on loan from St.Helens in 2023, he impressed enough to earn a permanent deal with York from 2024.

Since then, he’s gone on to make a further 18 appearances, scoring one try and kicking 20 goals. Five of those goals came in the memorable game at Swinton in 2024, when the Knights came from 22-0 down in the final 12 minutes to win by 30 points to 22.

Pemberton came through the academy system at St.Helens after playing his junior rugby at Leigh East.

He made two Super League appearances for Saints before being released at the end of 2023.

Head coach, Mark Applegarth believes Pemberton still has plenty more to come.

"I'm delighted Taylor's with us still," he said. "Obviously he was a bit unlucky with his injury last year.

"Taylor's a lad that I've coached since England youth. I really love how his game is developing.

"I challenged him on a few things this year, mainly on his defence, which he's improved.

"He's got a really good running game and his understanding working with Macca (Paul McShane) of the broader picture at nine is coming on leaps and bounds. I'm delighted he's with us still."

Pemberton said: "I’m grateful for the opportunity with this special club in its next chapter.

"I can’t wait for another year with this group.“
