York Valkyrie are delighted to announce that former captain, Sade Rhihari has returned to the club, thanks to the support of Squad Builder!

The 29-year old half-back is back at York after taking time out of the game. She made 37 appearances for the club after joining in 2023, scoring five tries.

Her last appearance was in the 2025 Betfred Super League defeat at home to St.Helens in June.

After initially moving to the Valkyrie from Salford Red Devils, she took over the captaincy role in 2024, in the absence of Sinead Peach and Tara-Jane Stanley.

The half-back led the team to victory in the 2024 Grand Final, as they retained the title they won for the first time in 2023.

The former New Zealand Touch Rugby International represented Queanbeyan Blues and Mackay Brothers before moving to the UK, initially with Huddersfield Giants.

On her return, Rihari said: “I’m back at York Valkyrie with unfinished business.

“The girls are like family to me, and this club has made me feel welcome since I arrived four years ago.

“With new staff and a fresh start, it’s time to move forward together in 2026!”
