Scarborough Pirates Launch Free Taster Session for Years 5 & 6 Children

York RLFC Foundation is excited to be working in partnership with Scarborough Pirates to invite children in Years 5 and 6 to take part in a FREE rugby league taster session in Scarborough in June!

This session forms part of an exciting partnership between York RLFC Foundation and Scarborough Pirates RLFC, working together to grow junior rugby league opportunities in the area.

York RLFC Foundation is supporting the development of a new junior section at Scarborough Pirates, creating a clear pathway for young players to continue playing rugby league locally. Bringing together the professional expertise of York RLFC Foundation with the passion and community focus of Scarborough Pirates, its focus is to help build a sustainable future for the game on the Yorkshire coast.

Children attending the taster session will have the opportunity to continue their rugby league journey with regular training and future opportunities to play as part of a team.

The taster session offers a great opportunity to get Involved and introduce players to the basics of rugby league through fun, engaging games and activities. Those attending can expect an introduction to Core skills such as passing, catching, and evasion. Primary Rugby League is a great activity for building Teamwork and confidence-building exercises. Offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all abilities.

Whether children are completely new to the sport or already enjoy being active, the session provides the perfect opportunity to try something new, meet friends, and get involved in a growing rugby league community in Scarborough.

Six primary schools will also receive weekly curriculum coaching from the Foundation, reaching 360 pupils, thanks to funding secured through Beyond Housing.

The first taster session will take place on Wednesday, 3rd June, 5 - 6pm at Cayton Playing Fields (YO11 3TG). This session is designed to give young people the opportunity to experience rugby league in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
