Squad named for huge Women's Super League clash

Lindsay Anfield has named her Knights squad for Sunday’s huge Betfred Women’s Super League match against Leeds Rhinos where avoiding defeat will clinch a maiden League Leaders’ Shield trophy for York.

Sitting top of the table, boasting a two-point lead over both Leeds and St Helens, the Knights have won six of their seven regular season matches this season, a run that leaves their destiny in their own hands on the final day. A victory or draw against rivals Leeds will secure the trophy for Anfield’s team.

Coming back into the fold after missing out a fortnight ago in victory over Wigan Warriors, half-backs Georgie Hetherington and Olivia Gale, forward Olivia Wood and Lacey Owen could all return to the thirteen for the big match. Two of the four French debutants, drafted in after joining on loan amid an injury crisis in the camp, are included in the shape of Elisa Akpa and Leila Bessahli who could, once again, line up for the Knights.
