York RLFC Foundation is calling for volunteers to run the York 10K Run For All on Sunday 3rd August, to help raise vital funds to support its wide range of programmes and community work!
Throughout the year, the Foundation organises various fundraising activities and events, with this being one of the latest.
To help them achieve this, more than a dozen volunteers have already stepped forward offering to run and raise funds.
The race takes runners through the historic city of York, with the route starting and finishing on Knavesmire Road, close to York Racecourse and takes in some of the city’s most historic landmarks, including the ancient city walls, Clifford’s Tower and York Minster.
This event has an electric community atmosphere from start to finish, with thousands of runners of all abilities set to run through the heart of the beautiful city of York, raising lots of money for so many fantastic causes.
We still have some places available for any participants willing to represent York RLFC and raise funds. All we ask is to raise a minimum of £100 to support costs and to support the Foundation.
Anyone who has already purchased a space in the York 10K directly through Run For All and would like to raise money for York RLFC Foundation, are more than welcome with no set fundraising target.
York RLFC Foundation Community Coach Mark Prangnell said: “We are grateful to all our willing volunteers running the York 10K on behalf of the Foundation.
“Over the past 2 years, our volunteers have raised a significant amount of money through the York 10K, and we would love to continue this trend again.
“All funds raised will once again go directly into the work the Foundation delivers in the local community as well as our Wheelchair Rugby League team, Disability Rugby League team, our Player Development Programmes and work within the community.”
This will be the third year in a row that Jess Taylor has volunteered to run the York 10K on behalf of the Foundation and she said: “I am volunteering to run the York 10K as my son plays in the York RLFC Foundation Learning Disability team.
“I see how beneficial being part of the Foundation's LD team at York RLFC is to my son. The Foundation delivers funded weekly training sessions and through these sessions, social opportunities & friendships develop, as well as raising self-esteem, confidence and growing new skill levels.
“The Foundation also offers the chance to participate in tournaments and provides experiences to play against other Rugby League Foundation teams.
“Club social opportunities, attending award ceremonies and the opportunity to go to and play at Super League’s Magic Weekend are just a few of the experiences which the Foundation also provides.”
