Teanby signs two-year deal

York City Knights are pleased to confirm that prop forward Jack Teanby has signed a new deal with the Club, extending his stay into the 2023 campaign – one that will be his fifth with York – thanks to the support of Squad Builder.

Since joining in 2019, Scotland international Teanby has gone on to make eighty appearances for the Knights and has established himself as a regular presence in James Ford’s line-up.

After a strong campaign, Teanby is expected to link up with Scotland ahead of the World Cup after making his debut against Jamaica in 2021.

On retaining Teanby, Ford said: “It’s great to be able to retain Jack. He’s been one of our better middles consistently for a number of seasons.

“Jack is still very keen to develop his game and I’m looking forward to helping him do so.”

Teanby himself said: “I’ve been here for four years and to stay another two is great. I’ve enjoyed every minute of those four years and I’m really excited to get going again.

“It’ll be great to get another two years at the club under my belt and to hopefully see some silverware in that time, as well.

“We’ve been unlucky this year, Leigh have been brilliant and you take them out of it, we’re not far off earning the right to push for Super League with promotion.

“The club is going places and I want to be part of that, so I’m delighted to have extended my stay for another two years.

“Everyone’s goals and reasons for signing, going on to different teams or extending stays are always to push on and we want to push further. The way we’re recruiting and the way we’re going as a team, we’re aiming for better each year. Since being here, we’ve pushed on and we have got better over the course of each season.

“To come out of the dip from 2021 to reach the Play-Off Semi-Finals this year shows the club has ambition and that’s my goal as well. I want to be part of the team that pushes for Super League and it would be great to reach that.

Teanby joins the likes of new signings Ata Hingano and Josh Daley, as well as fans’ favourites Matty Marsh, Will Jubb and Liam Harris, in the Knights squad for 2023 and Season Tickets are available from 10am today.
