Teenager Warren signs new Knights deal

York City Knights are pleased to confirm that teenager Toby Warren has signed a new three-year deal with the club. Warren initially agreed Community Dual Reg terms for the Knights ahead of this season and has followed fellow teenagers Myles Harrison and AJ Towse in becoming a contracted player with the club until the end of the 2023 season. Like Harrison and Towse, 17-year-old Warren joined the Knights from community club Heworth ARLFC and is a product of the York City Knights Foundation's Excel player development program. Warren is sponsored by Burflex Scaffolding, the Foundation's Main Headline Partner, and will be looking to make his debut for the Knights in the coming months. On extending Warren's stay with the club, Head Coach James Ford said: "I'm really pleased to tie Toby down for a number of years. He's a player we feel has potential in the medium to long term and is improving at a rapid rate in the short term. "Every session we see him working hard and he has a great desire to get better. He's improving every week and, hopefully, at some point this season Toby has improved enough that we're in a position to give him his debut." The teenager himself said: "It means a lot to be offered a three-year deal I've come a long way in recent times and I'm excited to see what's to come in the future. "It's a proud moment for me and my family to sign permanently for my hometown club. It's pretty surreal going from watching the Knights at Bootham Crescent to be joining them permanently and now I'm really looking forward to the future." #WeAreYork⚔️
