Toulouse Olympique v York Knights : Match Preview

York Knights travel to France this weekend to face Toulouse Olympique in Betfred Super League on Saturday 18th July (8pm BST/ 9pm CET)!

With both sides having won six games this season and only points difference separating them, there’s plenty at stake in the south of France.

There’s been a rivalry developing between the clubs, after the battle to finish top of the Betfred Championship last season, followed by a tight encounter in the Grand Final and promotion to the top flight for both for 2026.

That rivalry continued earlier in the season when they met for the first time in Super League, with the Knights running out 38-14 winners at the LNER Community Stadium in April. Scott Galeano scored a hat-trick that evening, while Paul Vaughan got a brace as York picked up their third win of the season.

Like York, Toulouse have hit a bit of form in their last two games. They beat Catalans Dragons 60-18 before winning 46-0 at St.Helens. Other wins this season have come against Huddersfield, Hull FC, Castleford, and an opening weekend 18-16 victory at Wakefield Trinity.

Full back, Olly Ashall-Bott has been the one to catch the eye, impressing with eight tries in 13 appearances, while second row forward, Mathieu Jussaume has notched 11 tries, including a hat trick last weekend.

After wins against Huddersfield, Castleford and Hull FC, the Knights travel to Toulouse looking for a fourth consecutive win.

York have won in Toulouse on their last two visits, with last season’s 16-8 win proving vital in their run to finish top of the table. Tries from Scott Galeano and Oli Field, with two goals from Liam Harris, were enough to see the points return to North Yorkshire.

The Knights will have Jesse Dee back available, after completing his HIA protocols.
