York Valkyrie secured top spot in Group One at the Women's Nines Festival after victories over Warrington Wolves and Widnes Vikings and a draw against Leigh Leopards!

The youthful Valkyrie side, which compromised of talent from the Club's Under-19s and players on dual registration from partners Sheffield Eagles, began the morning at Warrington's Victoria Park with a 13-9 win over Warrington.

Isabelle Brennan and Lisa Parker bagged tries for York while Sian Judd went over for a bonus-point try.

The Valkyrie backed up that victory with a 25-7 win against Widnes, with a double from Evie Sexton complemented by scores from Lauren Exley, Charli Carlton and Brennan as well as another bonus-point try by Judd.

York came close to completing a third straight victory at the Women's Nines Festival but the Valkyrie were held to a 12-12 draw by Leigh.

Judd went over for another bonus-point try - as did Sexton - and also nailed a conversion in the stalemate.

The two victories and a draw saw York finish top of Group One on five points, booking their place at Finals Day on Saturday 27th July.
