Villagers join Knights on community Dual Reg terms

York City Knights are pleased to announce that AJ Towse and Myles Harrison have joined the club on community dual registration terms from Heworth ARLFC.

The two 16 year olds initially joined the Knights on trial for pre-season and have impressed enough to sign longer term deals. The community dual registration terms mean that Towse and Harrison are available to train and play at both the Knights and Heworth.

Towse is an athletic and tenacious outside back, who initially caught the eye during the Knights’ EXCEL+ program last season with his attitude and commitment.

Harrison is a half back or full back who also first impressed during the club’s EXCEL+ program. He has consistently demonstrated a mature and professional approach towards his training, and played to a promising level in the games.

Both players featured for the Knights in their recent pre-season game at Featherstone Rovers.

Knights Head Coach James Ford said: “Both lads have demonstrated a very positive attitude towards their development and shown a good level of improvement across the board.

“Both of these young men are an absolute credit to the coaching staff at Heworth. We see both players as long term projects and it’s great that their development will also be supported by Heworth.”

Heworth junior coach Jason Kane, who coached the boys for many years through to under 16 level, said: “It’s really great to see two more of that team taking their game further and I’m proud to have been part of their journey, and I’m looking forward to seeing them take the next steps in their development.

“It just shows that all the years of hard work and dedication pay off.”

Heworth Head Coach and former Knights half back Scott Rhodes added: “I’m pleased for both players. They have shown a level of commitment and hard work around a Championship quality squad and they have been rewarded for it.

“The community dual registration agreement is perfect for all parties, the Knights get to work with two talented local lads and I have two young players available to challenge for a place in our NCL team at Heworth.

“I wish the boys the best of luck and I’m looking forward to seeing their development.”

Both Towse and Harrison are set to feature in the Knights final pre-season friendly this Sunday, 26th January against Betfred Championship rivals Bradford Bulls at the Tetley’s Stadium, Dewsbury after being named in James Ford’s preliminary squad.
