York Valkyrie hope to bounce back from their third defeat of the season when they travel to Victoria Park to face Warrington Wolves in the Betfred Women’s Super League on Sunday (noon).
The 10-6 loss to St.Helens in midweek left them sitting in fourth place in the table, four points off the leaders with five league games still to play.
It’s a short turn around between games, but the Valkyrie will take heart after an improved performance and long spells of strong defence against the Challenge Cup holders.
When York last met Warrington in June, the Valkyrie scored nine tries including a hat-trick from Eboni Partington as to run out 44-4 winners. Manuqalo Komaitai also scored a brace on her debut.
Warrington lie in sixth place in the table with three wins to their name this year under the coaching of Armarni Sharrock. They’ve had victories over Featherstone Rovers (34-28 and 16-10) Barrow Raiders (10-6).
Last week they suffered a heavy 82-0 defeat in their local derby against Saints.
Since the last meeting with York, Warrington have brought Emily Baggaley back to the club.
The England Knights Performance Squad back-rower rejoins from St.Helens, who she signed for at the start of the year.
The Valkyrie will still be without Liv Gale for this game after an injury in the defeat by Wigan.
