Widnes Vikings 18 - 36 York Knights: Match Report

York Knights secured their eighth consecutive win across all competitions with a remarkable 18-36 comeback victory against Widnes Vikings.

The game initially seemed firmly in Widnes's hands for the first 20 minutes, as the Knights found themselves 18-0 down. However, York staged an impressive turnaround, spearheaded by a hat-trick from Ben Jones-Bishop, to claim the win.

Widnes opened the scoring when Gilmore kicked high, and Toa missed the catch, allowing Williams to gather the ball and score a try. Gilmore successfully converted.

In the ninth minute, Roberts made a deep break and found Maizen, who raced in for another Widnes try.

Widnes then crossed the line once more as Murray took a short ball from Maizen, with Edge converting the try.

The Knights' scoring spree began in the 24th minute with the first of the six tries. Ben Jones-Bishop dived into the right-hand corner, and Harris added the extras, making the score 18-6.

Jones-Bishop secured his second try at the 30-minute mark following a kick along the ground from Liam Harris, who once again successfully converted.

Completing his hat-trick just before half-time, with 39 minutes on the clock, Ben Jones-Bishop scored his third consecutive try. Harris narrowly missed the conversion.

In the 53rd minute, Connor Bailey forced his way over the line to score, which Harris converted, marking a significant step in York's comeback.

Then, a penalty was awarded to York following a high tackle from the Widnes side and Harris successfully converted it for those extra two points.

Later, Jones-Bishop found Kieran Buchanan, who dived over into the right-hand corner for the Knights' fifth try of the game. Harris once again added the extras.

The victory was sealed when Galeano intercepted a cut-out ball and flew 90 meters down the field untouched, securing a dominant 18-36 win for the Knights.
