York RLFC would like to invite any York College students interested in combining rugby league with their studies to our York College Knights Trial on Wednesday 30th August.
The trial will take place at York College's Sim Balk Lane Playing Fields from 6pm to 7.30pm and is open to both male and female players.
Prospective students and their parents will have the opportunity to meet coaches and get an overview of the York College Knights Programme.
To register for the York College Knights Trial, fill in the application form by clicking HERE!
The York College Knights Programme, which launched in 2019, allows students to combine their studies with the opportunity to represent the city, College and York RLFC in regular fixtures against other colleges and Sixth Forms.
Open to both male and female players, the Programme, which starts in September, delivers sessions on rugby league skill development and application, strength and conditioning, nutrition and lifestyle.
We are seeking to enhance the experience students have whilst studying at College, providing twice-weekly field and gym training sessions.
In 2021, Myles Harrison became the first York College Knights graduate to represent the Knights first-team and has since go on to make more than 30 appearances, scoring seven tries and 25 goals.
It is hoped that female graduates from the College women’s team will go on and represent York Valkyrie – the history-making 2022 and 2023 League Leaders’ Shield winners in the Betfred Women's Super League.
York RLFC Foundation Delivery Manager Adam Prentis said: “We are proud to be a partner with York College in this fantastic opportunity for both male and female students.
"To continue our partnership with a well-respected education provider, such as York College, means students get a high-quality coaching and education experience.
"The potential of this partnership is truly exciting, with this Programme forming a significant part of our player development pathway for the area.
"Our vision is to build York College Knights into an exceptional Programme for local male and female players, allowing them to develop their game as part of the York RLFC player development pathway, while furthering their education and career opportunities.
