York Knights are just 80 minutes away from a return to Wembley Stadium after breezing to a 46-12 victory over Oldham RLFC in the Quarter-Finals of the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup at the LNER Community Stadium.

Will Dagger and Richie Myler each bagged braces for the Knights while Myles Harrison, Liam Harris, Conor Fitzsimmons and AJ Towse also crossed the whitewash.

York got off to a dream start when Myler’s delayed pass fed Harrison to charge through the Oldham line down the right flank.

Will Dagger added the conversion, his first of seven goals from eight attempts.

Captain Harris then took York into a two-score lead with a trademark dummy straight through the Oldham line without a hand laid on him.

Two tries from Will Dagger in the space of just nine minutes saw the dominant Knights put the visitors to the sword.

Dee’s offload close to the line sent the full-back over for his first before the number one latched onto a Harris short kick to complete his double.

Myler then matched his team-mate with a brace of his own in the dozen minutes before the break. Dagger showed his pace to race away down the left flank before the supporting Myler finished behind the sticks.

The former Lance Todd Trophy winner then avoided an Oldham high shot to touch down from Williams’s neat pass.

In-between, Oldham full-back Logan Astley responded by touching down from a neat scrum play down the left side.

After a scrappy opening to the second period, Fitzsimmons broke the stalemate by rumbling forward with defenders surrounding him before reaching out an arm backwards over the line.

With a dozen minutes to go, Myler almost bagged his hat-trick but the referee rules a knock-on in the grounding after being put through by Jordan Thompson.

The Roughyeds grabbed a consolation try when Owen Farnworth finished off Joe Wardle’s break, with Jamie Ellis again converting but the last word belonged to York.

Myler floated a cut-out pass to the left flank for Towse who somehow beat his marker despite the little room available down the edge.
