York Knights secure Hunter for 2027!

York Knights have signed Cody Hunter until the end of 2028, thanks to support from Squad Builder!
Initially joining Newcastle Thunder for 2026, he made his York debut on loan from our partner club against Leigh Leopards in April, and went on to become an ever present in the side making 20 appearances, scoring five tries and 30 goals.
Hunter arrived in England from Australia for 2026 from Sunshine Coast Falcons, where he played in the Queensland Cup.
Known for his game management and creativity while there, he brought that with him to North Yorkshire where he secured a place in the Knights’ halves.
After becoming a permanent Knights player, Hunter said: "I’m proud to continue my career with this club for a further two years.
"I love what the Knights are about and I’m already excited for a competitive 2027."
Head coach, Mark Applegarth said: "I'm delighted with Cody. He's really taken his chance and stepped up to Super League.
"He's still a young player relatively and he's got his best years in front of him. We're really looking forward to seeing Cody kick on."
