York Knights v Bradford Bulls: Match Preview

York Knights bring the curtain down on their first ever season in Betfred Super League, when they meet Bradford Bulls at the LNER Community Stadium on Thursday 10th September (8pm)!
It’s been an incredible first year in the top flight for the Knights, winning eight games, including last week’s 28-16 victory at Catalans Dragons which lifted them up to tenth in the table.
Like many clubs, Bradford Bulls have struggled with injuries in their first year back in Super League. Their 32-22 win over Castleford took them on to 14 points, although they sit bottom of the table on points difference behind Hull FC and Huddersfield Giants.
The win last week was their first in seven games with the previous victory being at Huddersfield in July.
The rivalry between the two clubs has built since 2018, when they were both battling at the top of League 1.
After beating the Bulls three times last year, twice in the Championship and also in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup semi-final, it was Bradford who came out on top when they met earlier this year in their first ever Super League meeting.
The Bulls won 30-20 at Odsal in June, thanks to tries from Eribe Doro, Jayden Nikorima, Joe Mellor and Riley Dean, who also kicked seven goals. In reply, David Nofoaluma scored a hat-trick for York, with Liam Harris also scoring. Cody Hunter added two goals.
Most recently at the LNER Community Stadium, it was a 16-14 win for York in the Championship last year in a generally typical tight affair.
A win for York would guarantee they would finish in 10th place in the table. Victory for Bradford would give them a chance of not finishing at the bottom of the table. That would also depend on the results this weekend of Huddersfield v Castleford and Leeds v Hull.
If selected, York winger, Ben Jones-Bishop will make his 400th career appearance.
