York RLFC Foundation selected as a Lord Mayor of York Charity for 2024!

York RLFC Foundation are delighted to be selected as one of this year’s charities for the Lord Mayor Appeal.

Each year the Lord Mayor of York’s fundraising committee raises money for the Lord Mayor’s selected charities for the year they are in office. This year, the fundraising committee will be supporting York RLFC Foundation as well three other local charities – Survive, The Stroke Association & York City Football Club Foundation.

Neil Gulliver, York RLFC Foundation, said, “We are delighted to be one of the selected Charities by York’s Lord Mayor and Sheriff alongside other charities who do some phenomenally good work in our city. Being one of this years charities will not only help us in raising much needed funds but also raise the profile of our work to the wider community in York. I would encourage our fans to support these events across what will be an amazing year.”

Cllr Margaret Wells is York’s Lord Mayor for 2024-2025, with Fiona Fitzpatrick as the Sheriff of York. The Lord Mayor of York is the ‘first citizen’ of the city; appointment to this position is made each year, in May. At the same time each year, the Sheriff of York is appointed. York’s Lord Mayor is second only to the Lord Mayor of London in precedence and its Sheriff holds the oldest office of Sheriff in England and Wales.

More details on events and ways to get involved will be published throughout the year.
