A dominant performance extended York Valkyrie’s winning run with a 62-0 win over Featherstone Rovers.
The platform was set in the first half with five tries, including two from Savannah Andrade. She completed a hat-trick in the second half, with both Eboni Partington and Emma Kershaw getting a brace, as the Valkyrie scored six more tries.
It was also a good afternoon with the boot for Tara Stanley who converted nine from 11 attempts.
It leaves them level on points with Leeds Rhinos in the Women's Super League table, two points behind joint leaders Wigan Warriors.
The first try of the game went to Stanley, who stepped through the defence after Megan Pakulis was held up.
Liv Wood was the next to score after some enterprising play kept the ball alive on the last tackle. Stanley added her first goal of the game.
Good handling then led to Savannah Andrade crossing after combining with Jas Bell and Sade Rihari down the right. Stanley converted for a 16 point lead.
By now, the Valkyrie were starving Featherstone of possession, and could have been further ahead with both Eva Izumi and Pakulis having efforts ruled out.
Andrade again combined with Rihari to go in for her second. Stanley again added the conversion.
An error from the restart then gave Featherstone their best chance of the game only for Brogan Churm put the pass down with the line open in front of her.
Just before the break, York were in again, as Stanley put Eva Izumi through. Stanley added the extra two for a 28-0 half time lead.
The first York set of the second half led to another try. This time Emma Kershaw scored in the corner. Stanley landed the conversion from the touchline.
Andrade got her hat-trick after a Lucy Eastwood break and with Stanley’s goal York hit the 40 point mark.
The Valkyrie were now starting to find space easily, and the gap appeared for Eboni Partington to go in at the corner.
Kershaw got her second after Stanley put a pass over the top of two defenders. Another towering touchline conversion brought up 50 points.
Pakulis’s strength then saw her score her first in York colours, driving in under the posts.
Partington got her second of the game after an 80 metre run to score what was the final try of the afternoon.
