York Valkyrie face Barrow Ladies in the Betfred Women’s Super League at the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday (12pm)!

It’s another double header, with York Knights taking on Barrow Raiders in the Betfred Championship afterwards (3pm).

It’s the second consecutive home game for the Valkyrie, who beat Leigh Leopards 28-4 last weekend to remain in third place in the table.

After tricky start to the season when they faced Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos and St.Helens and managed one win from three, Lindsay Anfield’s side has now won the last four games.

It’s Barrow’s second year in Super League, and after finishing fifth last season they’ve won two of their first seven matches.

After beating Warrington 14-6, Amanda Wilkinson’s team completed the double over the league’s bottom club with a 52-10 win over them last weekend.

This is the first time this year the two sides have met, with the Valkyrie having won both league games against them last season. York won 28-8 in Cumbria, before a 44-0 win at the LNER Community Stadium. The Valkyrie scored eight tries that day, including a hat-trick for Emma Kershaw, and others from Eboni Partington, Liv Wood, Savannah Andrade and Georgie Dagger.

Barrow’s squad has undergone a few changes since last season, including the retirements of former captain, Jodie Litherland and the experienced Michelle Larkin, and Demi Fisher, who joined York for a short time before joining Swinton, after she moved away from Cumbria.

They are now led by the experienced Emily Stirzaker who stepped up to captain in place of Litherland.

The Valkyrie could be in a position to name a similar squad again, having come through the win last week without any injury concerns.
