York Valkyrie open their Betfred Women’s Super League campaign with a game at home to Huddersfield Giants at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday 16th May (12pm)!
The game is part of a double header, with York Knights hosting Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Super League (12pm).
It’s only three weeks since the teams last met in the quarter final of the Betfred Challenge Cup, when the Valkyrie ran out 34-10 winners at the LNER Community Stadium. Tries came from Eboni Partington (2), Brooke Henderson, Monique Donovan, Savannah Andrade, Megan Pakulis and Lisa Parker.
In that game, former York players, Liv Gale, Georgia Cussons, Eva Izumi and Evie Sexton all lined up against their former club.
This time out, Valkyrie coach, Leon Pryce will be looking for a response after their disappointing Challenge Cup semi final defeat by Wigan last weekend, as they begin their quest to reach the Grand Final, which they won in 2023 and 2024.
When the teams met last year, the games were relatively tight affairs. First, York edged a 24-20 win at Huddersfield, before picking up a 26-6 win at home in July.
