York Valkyrie will be seeking to maintain their 100 per cent winning record to 2023 when they host fellow unbeaten side Hull KR on Sunday afternoon (12pm) in the Betfred Womenâs Challenge Cup Group Four at the LNER Community Stadium.
York have begun the year with three wins from as many matches, beating Leeds Rhinos (12-34) and St Helens (26-6) in record Club victories over their Betfred Womenâs Super League title rivals before starting their Betfred Womenâs Challenge Cup campaign with a 44-4 triumph against Barrow Raiders at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
Like the Valkyrie, Hull KR are yet to lose this year, having recorded six straight wins in the Womenâs Championship, leaving themselves two points clear at the top of the third tier.
Hull KR have scored a division-high 284 points in the Womenâs Championship, including a 106-0 rout of Wakefield Trinity and a 58-6 thrashing of Swinton Lionesses.
The East Yorkshire club have also beaten Oulton Raidettes (32-20), Warrington Wolves Lunas (26-10), Dewsbury Moor (16-32) and Sheffield Eagles (30-22).
Having placed fifth last year, Hull KR appear strongly positioned to battle for the Womenâs Championship title in 2023.
Ben Parkerâs side however face a steep step-up in class against York this afternoon, particularly as the Valkyrie are boosted by the return of prop Jas Bell.
The front-rower missed last monthâs trip to Barrow after being served with a one-match suspension for a Grace C Dangerous Contact against Leeds.
Lindsay Anfieldâs side also head into the contest on back of a remarkable home record at the LNER Community Stadium, having not lost at the ground since a 14-4 defeat to the then-reigning and still current Betfred Womenâs Super League champions Leeds Rhinos in August 2021.
This afternoonâs Betfred Challenge Cup tie against Hull KR is the second of three Group Four encounters in this yearâs competition, with a trip to Leigh Leopards at Leigh Miners Rangers awaiting York on Sunday 21st May (2pm).
York Valkyrie continue their Betfred Women's Challenge Cup Group Four campaign on Sunday 7th May (12pm) against Hull KR at the LNER Community Stadium as part of a double header, with York Knights facing London Broncos later that afternoon (3pm) in the Betfred Championship. Tickets for the double header are priced at ÂŁ20 for Adults, ÂŁ15 for Concessions (17-21-year-olds and over-65s) and FREE for Under-16s.
