The York Rugby League Development Centre programme combines students’ studies with the opportunity to represent the City, College and York RLFC in regular fixtures against other colleges and Sixth Forms.
This programme, for both males and females, includes a bespoke Level 3 Sports Coaching and Development qualification which will run alongside a training and playing competition programme and links closely to the Knights & Valkyrie player development pathways.
The Development Centre will allow students to access unique placement and work based experiences alongside a high quality education and playing programme and will be headed by the Head of Pathways, Andrew Henderson.
The Foundation's current education pathway has links with over 75 schools from both within the city and across North Yorkshire. From the school’s pathway, the exit routes lead to education partners York College and York St John University, thus allowing players to continue their journey in rugby league, as well as leave the door open to those new to the sport to get involved.
The programme at York College provides an extra step on the York RLFC pathways for future Knights & Valkyrie players.
