Anfield names squad for Saints trip

York City Knights Ladies head to Merseyside on Sunday to take on reigning Betfred Women’s Super League champions St Helens in what is likely to be the biggest test yet of the title credentials of Lindsay Anfield’s teams.

With five wins from five so far in this year’s league campaign, the Knights boast a two-point lead at the top of the table and a six-point lead over St Helens. Fresh off the back of becoming the first-ever champions of the Women’s Nines last weekend, Anfield’s team will be travelling full of confidence in their ability to seal the league double over Saints.

The Knights, though, will be travelling without a clutch of stars. Grace Field has joined the likes of Alisha Clayton, Kelsey Gentles and Georgie Hetherington on the sidelines after picking up an injury during the emphatic recent victory over Huddersfield Giants.

Five members of the squad, however, will go into the match off the back of being included in the England Women’s Knights squad with Jasmine Bell, Emma Kershaw and Lacey Owen named alongside Sinead Peach and Tamzin Renouf.
