York Valkyrie are delighted to announce that Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield has been nominated for the 2023 Betfred Women’s Super League Coach of the Year award.
Anfield - who is proudly sponsored by Acomb Travel - has led York to an historic second consecutive League Leaders’ Shield in 2023, after nine wins and one draw from the side’s 10 regular season matches.
Having also claimed the crown in 2022, no other team in BWSL history has ever won the League Leaders’ Shield in back-to-back seasons.
Anfield has named on a three-person shortlist for the BWSL Coach of the Year award alongside Featherstone Rovers boss Marie Colley, whose side have won promotion from the BWSL Group Two, and Matty Smith of St Helens, who led Saints to this year’s Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup at Wembley Stadium.
The BWSL Coach of the Year award winner will be announced at the 2023 Rugby League Awards Night on Tuesday 10th October at The Point at Emirates Old Trafford.
York Valkyrie continue their bid for a maiden BWSL Grand Final title when they host Wigan Warriors in the Play-Off Semi-Finals on Saturday (3.30pm) at the LNER Community Stadium.
