York Valkyrie have added Australian centre, Monique Donovan, to their squad thanks to support from Squadbuilder!

The 28 year old, who has NRLW experience with Paramatta Eels, moves to York after a successful season in 2025 at Cronulla Sharks.

After eight tries in 15 appearances in the top flight in Australia for the Eels, Donovan went on to captain the Sharks in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership.

She led them to win the Grand Final last season, and named as the competition’s Player of the Year.

Donovan gained representative honours when she was selected for the Australian Indigenous squad in 2024/25.

On joining York in the Betfred Women’s Super League, Donovan said: "I’m really excited about this next chapter.

"Joining the Valkyrie for the 2026 season is an incredible opportunity, and I’m proud to be part of such an ambitious and growing team.

"Moving from Australia to the UK was a big step, but it’s an opportunity I’m incredibly grateful for.

"It’s a chance I’ve taken to challenge myself both on and off the field, and I can’t wait to get started with the girls and contribute positively to something special this season."
