York RLFC centre, Kieran Buchanan will remain a Knight after signing a new two-year deal with the club, thanks to the support of Squad Builder!

An ever present in 2025, Buchanan arrived at the LNER Community Stadium at the start of the season on a two year deal, after four seasons at Championship rivals, Batley Bulldogs.

With more than 100 consecutive career appearances to his name, he’s been one of the most solid and consistent players for York this year.

At home across the back line and in the second-row, it’s in the centres where he’s found his home at York with some brilliant defence and linking up with top try scorer, Ben Jones-Bishop on the right hand side of the Knights attack.

A Scottish international, Buchanan proved to be a shrewd signing as York clinched the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup, Betfred Championship League Leaders’ Shield and a spot in the Grand Final.

Head coach, Mark Applegarth said: "I'm delighted he's signed.

"He's a real unsung hero of the team. He does a lot of the tough stuff and unselfish acts that all his team mates appreciate and probably don't get as many headlines as some of more of the overt stuff that we've been seeing.

"He's an absolute champion bloke and character in the dressing room and more importantly a really good player. I'm delighted he's agreed to stay."

Kieran Buchanan added: "I'm buzzing to be re-signing with the York Knights.

"My first year here has honestly been perfect. I’ve loved every minute with the lads, the staff, and the fans. Couldn’t have asked for a better club to be part of.

"I'm excited for what’s ahead and ready to give it everything again next season."

Season tickets are now available for 2026!
