York Knights are on a three match winning run in the league, as they travel to the Millennium Stadium to face Featherstone Rovers in the Betfred Championship on Good Friday (6pm)!
Victories at Batley Bulldogs and Barrow Raiders were followed with last weekendâs 66-0 beating of Doncaster, where the Knights scored 12 tries, including a hat-trick for Scott Galeano in his second appearance in a York shirt.
Add to that the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup quarter final win over Widnes Vikings the week before, and the Knights are on a four match winning streak in all competitions.
Featherstone have had a difficult start to the season. After parting company with James Ford after just two league games, former York Knights assistant coach, Paul Cooke was appointed as head coach, with Ged Corcoran leaving his position on the coaching staff at York to join Cook as his assistant.
While theyâve reached the semi-finals of the 1895 Cup, theyâve still got just one league win to their name from a 22-4 win over Doncaster on the opening day of the season.
They almost picked up their second victory last week, only to lose narrowly at Oldham, 30-28.
Rovers boast a squad with plenty of experience, with former Super League players including Ben Reynolds and Gareth OâBrien in the halves, former Hull FC centre, Carlos Tuimavave and ex-Salford forward, King Vuniyayawa.
Thereâs also the familiar face of hooker, Will Jubb, who moved from York to Featherstone in the off-season after making 177 appearances for the Knights.
Last season, York did the double over their rivals, beating Rovers on their own ground for the first time in the league since 1957 before then winning 16-6 at the LNER Community Stadium.
The 34-24 win at the Millennium Stadium saw the Knights launch a come back after going 16-0 down early in the second half. Tries from Jack Teanby, Joe Brown, Josh Daley, Ukuma Taâai, Ata Hingano and Liam Harris and five goals from Will Dagger sealed a memorable afternoon for the travelling fans.
